Orange Shirt Day

Strike understands the importance of building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. We have shown our support by participating in the 2020 Orange Shirt Day. This event was designed to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.

Annually on September 30th, we are asked to listen to the stories of survivors and their families and to remember those that didn’t make it through the residential school system.

The proceeds from the shirts went to the Orange Shirt Society to support awareness activities, such as:

  • To support Indian Residential School Reconciliation
  • To create awareness of the individual, family and community intergenerational impacts of Indian Residential Schools through Orange Shirt Society activities
  • To create awareness of the concept of “Every Child Matters”
