2024 Western Canadian Scholarship Awarded
At Strike Group, we are committed to fostering inclusion and supporting the next generation of skilled professionals. As part of this commitment, we annually offer a variety of $2,000 scholarships to students. Our Western Canadian Scholarship promotes inclusion by being open to any and all students in Western Canada who are pursuing an education in the skilled trades or energy sector.
This year, we are thrilled to award the 2024 Western Canadian Scholarship to Shey Therrien.
Shey Therrien is a first-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering student at Red Deer Polytechnic. He plans to transfer to the University of Alberta to complete his degree, specializing in a specific field of engineering.
Shey’s outstanding application stood out due to his exemplary leadership, community involvement, and unwavering dedication to youth development. His accomplishments include:
- Leadership on and off the field: As a former captain of his high school football team, Shey now gives back as a volunteer coach at The Dome sports complex. Over the past three years, he has committed himself to empowering young athletes, teaching fundamental football skills, and emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. Shey’s approach focuses on fostering integrity, respect, and leadership both on and off the field.
- Mentorship in academics: In addition to his community contributions, Shey has demonstrated leadership among his peers. He organizes study groups for fellow engineering students, offering support and mentorship to those struggling with challenging concepts.
Looking ahead, Shey is eager to leverage his engineering expertise to build stronger, more resilient communities. We are proud to support Shey’s journey and are confident that his dedication and vision will leave a lasting impact.
Congratulations, Shey, on this well-deserved recognition!
